The nation’s largest wakeboarding event, the Nautique WWA Nationals presented by Rockstar Energy concluded today with 44 National Champions being crowned during the five day event held at Miami Watersports Complex. Harley Clifford took home the Pro Men’s title putting together the best run of the day earning a score of 95.67 to claim the title. With this win, Clifford clenched the 2015 Nautique Wake Series Championship behind the industry leading Super Air Nautique G23, after also earning titles in Australia and Waco, Texas.

“I’m super stoked to win the Nautique WWA National Championships,” said Clifford. “This is the largest wakeboard event in North America and to know I came in and put in my best effort to claim the title is awesome.”

The Pro Women’s division saw Nautique rider Meagan Ethell battle Dallas Friday for the title while in the Jr. Pro Men it was Nic Rapa claiming the championship. In Pro Wakeskate, Reed Hansen nailed his run to take the victory.

“Words can’t describe the feelings I have right now,” said Rapa. “It’s literally off the charts! I’m pumped to be crowned U.S National champion in Junior Pro and not only that, but finish 1st overall in the Nautique Wake Series! I can’t thank everyone enough for all the support.”

Ilmor Marine celebrates production of its 10,000th Marine V8

Ilmor Marine, LLC marked the production of its 10,000th marine V8 engine, a MV8 6.0L, with a celebration at its Mooresville, NC headquarters.

Representatives from Ilmor, Penske Corporation, GM Marine, ZF Marine and other key partners and suppliers were present for the starting of the 10,000th engine by Miles Atkins, Mayor of Mooresville. Also present were Thom Dammrich, President of the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) and Preston Curtis of Congressman Robert Pittenger’s Mooresville office.

“Today is the culmination of nearly a decade’s worth of effort on our recreational marine engine series, which began well before our first MV8 was built in 2010,” says Paul Ray, president of Ilmor Engineering. “Reaching the 10,000th MV8 engine is entirely thanks to the extraordinary efforts of our engineering, production and support teams, who have collectively made Ilmor a significant player in the marine industry.”

Ilmor Marine, LLC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ilmor Engineering, Inc., and operates in a state-of-the-art 50,000 square foot marine engine assembly and test facility open since July 2010. The plant manufactures Ilmor’s series of inboard GM Marine-based V8 (MV8) engines. Ilmor Marine is also the exclusive engine supplier to MasterCraft Boat Company.

Ilmor has nearly thirty years of Indy-winning engineering history, as well as over a decade of performance powerboat drivetrain production. This experience led to the design, development and successful manufacture of the Ilmor Marine MV8 engine series. Ideally suited for competitive water sports and recreational boating, Ilmor MV8 engines are built to the same stringent engineering standards as the company’s world-renowned race engines. The MV8 engines are offered in 5.7L, 6.0L, 6.2L and 7.4L variants, each based upon industry standard GM Marine power plants. All MV8 engines utilize Ilmor-developed parts and systems designed to increase [...]

Help save Wakeboarding and Boating on the Hawkesbury

https://www.facebook.com/pages/Save-boating-wakeboarding-and-water-sports-on-the-Hawkesbury-River/1628337527430257?sk=timeline
Looks like people on the Hawkesbury are getting some grief from local media regarding the use of boats on the Hawkesbury River.
If you are on facebook, check out the page above to see what is going on and if you can help.
Some rational and level headed support is what these sort of things need, but more importantly it's the numbers that they need to convince the legislators that wakeboarding and other boat driven activities are good for the community.
The majority of these bans or threats to ban are based on thinking they are doing right for the community, when in fact it's just a loud minority pressuring governments who think they are are going to lose votes if they don't act. Show them how many votes they will lose if they do act.
