2 interesting articles talking about the fiat Chrysler group AND their aims for the aussie market.

Probably the most interesting part that people here will appreciate is the fact its looking extremely likely that they will be bringing the dodge ram here in factory RHD.

It will only be the 1500 initially with the same V6 turbo diesel thats in the current Jeep Grand Cherokee but it sets an interesting precedent depending on how it's received.

I just hope the pricing will be right! I see ford released pricing for the mustang last week, $44k seemed like a good price till you read the fine print, that's for the 4cylinder! That's like buying a half loaf of bread or half carton of milk!

Still 233kw turbo four ain't too bad nothing a decent tune can't fix ;)
Is there a way of working less and riding more without having to resort to selling amphetamines to school kids from the back of a Mr Whippy van.

G'day

I know for fact that there are prototypes her in aus being tested already. Will be interesting to see how they sell against the other American tucks. If their priced well they will sell, but now the $ has dropped things may just get too dear.

I've been looking at f trucks since Xmas and they have gotten 10 grand dearer already.

Compare this though to a 200 series cruiser converted to a ute. I got a price on a gxl with chassis extension air bagged rear, bullbar and side rails/steps and steel tray with air and water tanks and it came to 122000 drive away. F250 lariat with same mods came in at 151. Cruiser don't have the hp though 8)

Cheers

Interesting point.. however their not being sold here to compete with the other American trucks but to compete with our Australian market of utes. The point you make about the dollar is slightly worrying because to compete they will have to be priced competitively. I'm really thinking that if their too expensive they are going to completely miss the market completely. I think they will be up there with the likes of the with the top spec'd Ranger, Amarok and Hilux in the 55-70k region.

G'day

Can't see em selling for less than 85,000 for the base model. I could be wrong but with the $ the way it is and the cost of conversion plus the fact that there's no factory backup which means they need to build into the price a warranty buffer, will they sell at that? I doubt it, it's a small market. They will sell some at what ever price but they won't be a market competitor. Good to have another option out there though. Something between the current uses and an f truck or chev (which is a huge step up from a hilux!)

Cheers
