308 Holden vs 350 chev

Postby rgleeso3 » Tue Nov 27, 2018 9:53 am

Hey everyone. Just wanted some advice while I choose my first boat. In regards to engines, is a 308 by any means worse than a 350 chev in terms of reliability and finding parts and cost of parts? Obviously there’s a performance difference. But I only want a small 16ft boat for skiing mainly amoungst the other fun stuff.
Any other thoughts would also help.
Cheers!

Parts are just as easy to find for a 308 as a 350. Even marine gear such as manifolds etc are still available via Tawco etc.

They are generally reliable and adequate for a ski boat.

I'd go the 350, Mercury or MerCruiser are based around the Chev engine platform.
The stuffs already been thought about and done 1 million times.

As long as its not a Ford it'll be fine.

I'd have a Cleveland over a 308 any day.
