New boat purchase

Postby marshy » Wed Mar 14, 2012 8:23 pm

Hi All,

New to this site. I am about to purchase a crossover boat, bow rider. My budget is $65K! I am prefering new boat as have little time to maintain and repair(beside servicing which is easy).

I have looked at Camero Vision 21i mid mount optioned up boat is about 58k. Spy XS21 optioned up is 65K. Also Spyder craft SR22 which is around 55k. Sleekline CX22 is also around 60K optioned up a lttle as well.

I really like the Spy boat and it gets great reviews and looks great, but all are nice boats. Will be using as novice wakeboarders and kneeboarding. Will get skiing use but very little.

Any help and thoughts on other boats would be great!!

Also how much better are the deals at the boatshow?

Spy boats seem really over priced to me for what you get.

I have also noticed that they seem to hang around on the second hand market for along time. I think this is due to the fact that there are better boats out there for the price when talking second hand boats.

Don't get me wrong, they look very good, but whether they perform as good as some of the big names for the same money, I'm not sure

Mate for $65k I'm pretty sure you could get into a nice new Matrix Expression.

I went for a demo in one back in January and couldn't believe how flat the ski wake was at 32-34mph.... 8O

They come standard with 500lt ballast and a tower and put out a pretty good wake for wakeboarding.

What options are you after Craig?

You will do as good now, as at a show unless they are loading the price up prior, you need to allow also things such as trailers keep going up.

I would like tower speakers and nice looking trailer. Cover, bimini etc. My wife wants a heater lol. Nice graphics. Tower lights.

Also adjustable wake control would be cool for when we get better!

Cheers

All boats have adjustable wake control - it's called ballast.
IMO if you want to spend circa 60K, you can do better by buying a higher profile brand in the 3-5 year old range.
You should not expect any major issues with a Malibu, Supra, Mastercraft, Nautique etc etc and their resale will be higher & in much greater demand.

how do you justify their resale...?? IMO matrix are like Toyotas... hold their value better than most.

I see matrix expressions for 50-55k 2006-2008. brand new they are about 65. 10k in 4-6 years is pretty good.

Couta, of the aussie designed brands, I agree Matrix would be one of the best.
But I still feel that you will lose less dough on a 5 yo big brand than a new Expression and find it easier to sell.

I read on a few threads that the Centurion Elite V C4 gets positive reviews from members and notice that they are currently doing them (new) for around the $65k mark.

For those on this forum in the know, is this a boat that Craig should be considering??

i rode behind the elite v c4 and love it was a great wake to ride for the size of the boat. It also felt pretty good to ride in in and felt like a much bigger boat than it really is. I think it is a great option.

The Centurion Elite V C4 is one of Centurions best selling boats. It is a great all round boat and is priced extreamly well at $64990. Which includes Gladiator tower, Cruise control, Bimini, Boat cover, 303Hp PCM engine, Std Graphics, Dealer delivery plus lots more.

Centurion now have 3 dealers in Australia.

I was in same position as you in November, I was keen on ski craft at $58,000+
I ended up coming across a second hand 2006 wakesetter xti for $50,000, with 406hrs
I ended up getting it for $45,000. I've done 60 more hrs no troubles, love the boat, and re sale I think will be better.
