Re: This winters projectTodays efforts.
I had to cut the old flanges off the oringinal bends because the rolco flanges i boughts where too small and dont fit these manifolds. I ended up just running a 2-1/2in holesaw through them, i woulda been there for days with a die grinder. I like these ones better, this way i can use the engine cover. Re: This winters projectLove your skills and exhaust looks really cool juddy.....
You'll have to run wire leaders or you'll burn ski ropes and probably a few arms and fingers if they're not super careful. They're just kinda in the way on a social boat..... That aside its a ripper project!!!!
Re: This winters project
Yeah we've been thinking that. Surely theres some high temp nyloc rope out there. Been looking into ski hooks last few days. I was going to cut up and reuse the old on but it needs to be 100mm higher for that reason, so i might start fresh. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
Re: This winters projectSpent a few hours today filling the holes in the exhaust where the flange meets the manifold, it looked to have blown into the water jacket.
I was told silicone would have done the job but the hole was a bit big for my liking. I'll run the file over them tomorrow. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
Re: This winters projectWell that stuffs pointless.
Plan B... pay someone to fix it. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
Re: This winters projectCan you get the welder onto it to fill the voids?
Re: This winters project
Yeah lay it on the side and just fill them slits up and build up around it. Might have to get new studs while I'm at it. Worst case i might have to take them around to me mates place and get him to mill the slits back in. I cant see y they have to be there? The only thing i can think of is they cool right up to the end and not act like a heat sink at the flange.
Re: This winters projectGot the exhaust manifolds back from the machine shop.
I didnt die grind it totally so its got some meat between the water jacket and exhaust. Bought some J tube vents for the carby to replace the straight type. All the coolings hooked up. The hoses make the engine bay look messy. With a bit of luck ill have it running on the hose next week. Used hyd hose in spots made it look bit neater You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
Re: This winters projectHad a few leaks and weeps but ran pretty good.
https://youtu.be/RezhLItGVoU One of the exhaust flanges leaked but I'll just make a gasket, its just goo at the moment. https://youtu.be/IQ22IdRo9gs I'll put up a better video over the weekend when i sort it all out. Edit: Just found out, not run with the drive up like that, it puts pressure on the uni joint. Last edited by 82Juddcraft on Fri Jul 28, 2017 11:30 am, edited 2 times in total.
Re: This winters projectLooking good.
Waiting for video of top speed test runs!!!! Brownie knows boats!
Re: This winters projectHaha wont be opening her right up till towards the end of the season. Let things settle and check alinememt of the drive... stuff like that ![]()
Re: This winters projectHad a bit of a no water issue.
Had the pump around the wrong way. https://youtu.be/Xko_28ZOGR0 Pipes are a lil hot, 30-40 degrees. Could be hotter under a load for a while tho... we'll find out.
Re: This winters project
Seen that before; easy to do. Hope you've changed the impeller! How much to do before you get her on the water?
Re: This winters projectYeah new impeller. Need to replumb the pump properly I just rigged it up with garden hose to get that video. Need to buy a block mount ski tow. Need to change the oil in the drive. Need to buy a complete second hand powersteering kit because the steering setup I got I'm not super happy about. Get a insurance check. Just found out the tachos not working Thats about it to get it on the water... Theres a bit of rework i want to do, few things im not happy with but it works for the moment.
Re: This winters projectThe list is getting shorter mate! And just in time for summer.
There will always be something to do to it. I'm still modifying mine after 6 years. Just get it on the water and enjoy it.
Re: This winters projectYeah i can count the list on 1 hand, its good. The boat account is reading $0 at the moment is the only problem. Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk
