Dog clutch won’t disengage under load

Postby Dizzy81 » Thu Oct 18, 2018 9:39 pm

Hi Guys,

Hoping for some advice on my dog clutch. I have a Holden 308 in my old boat and can’t get it to go into neutral in the water. If I turn the engine off and stop moving and put it in neutral it will be in neutral once I restart the engine. Out of the water, no worries goes in and out every time. Any suggestions? Thanks

Yes, I’d be looking at idle revs.....anything above 650 and it will struggle to disengage.
You can also try blipping the throttle a tiny bit and move the lever when the load is off the engine...IE when the revs are decreasing.
