Found this the other day. From what my old mans remembers, it was a 17ft Lewis with a 308. Pic at wisemans ferry about '73 '74 with a little nevergrew sitting on the deck

Loving this thread with the awesome old school boats!

Does anyone know of any refurbed Flightcraft spectres for sale? I'm in the market for a good one....
I'm in Queensland but willing to travel to where I need to for the right one.

Are you after one for aesthetic reasons or boat/wake performance ? If its the latter, you will find better options looking at anything American built from the 80's

A bit of both... They are renouned for putting off a decent clean wake for a reasonable budget and I really like the look of them, they kinda have a cult following now. I tried to email Rich last night to see if it was still for sale but looks like i've missed out. Would have been nice though, loved that it was a rear mount V-drive, too bad I was a bit slow out of the gates. anyone wanna PM me where it went and what it ended up selling for??

I know the 80's american boats are in around the same price range and put off a better wake but they're all really ugly and well... 80's....

Mate I've had a spectre and now own an 89 ski Naut and can tell you first hand it's 3 times the boat the spectre was. Better in every way. I too had the belief that the older nauts were ugly until I actually saw one in the flesh and fell in love straight away.

fair enough, I'll take that advice onboard, admittable I've fallen in love with the old spectre's but I haven't seen any old Nauts in the flesh.
What your saying is that I should go and check this out

especially given its only an hour and a half away from where I live....

Yes, go check it out !! That one will have fibreglass bearers and floors, so future wood rot won't be a problem.

Why would you even consider a Spectre when that naut is for sale for 20k ? Such a better, bigger, newer boat. The wake will be pretty good with some ballast... no 80s 2001 or SAN210 but still a great first boat.

If that 97 Nautique is whole and runs $20K is a absolute steal.

Damn straight it is a steal at that price 8O

That boat has been around the Brisbane area for quite a while. It was for sale for ~$26k and even at that price I thought it was good buying.
