Wakeboarding locations around strathpine/ brisbaneI'm moving to queensland around the end of October and I would like to know where I can take the boat out I'm not a fan of lakes as they are choppy, I currently live on the Murray river so if there is water like that around would be sweet, cheers
Re: Wakeboarding locations around strathpine/ brisbaneDefinitely! The Pine is a great river and further south there are several places to access the Brissie river. Hopefully some locals will give you the ins and outs in this forum ASAP.

Re: Wakeboarding locations around strathpine/ brisbanePine is very small. A couple of boats and its not really worth it.
Brisbane river is the go, put in a Jindalee or Fig Tree Pocket and there's always nice water to be found.
Re: Wakeboarding locations around strathpine/ brisbanePine and brisbane river are salt water though? I would only like to run my boat in fresh water as salt water stuffs boats over time, just rots the block from the inside out
Re: Wakeboarding locations around strathpine/ brisbaneIf your only run your boat in fresh water, then going out to the lakes is your only option. Unless you want a 4 hr drive south. The river north of Jindalee is brackish.

Re: Wakeboarding locations around strathpine/ brisbaneDams are not that bad really. Early bird catches the worm!
Re: Wakeboarding locations around strathpine/ brisbaneLooks like Somerset will be the go, just camp out the weekends to get the flat water in the morning at late in the arvo. Is it flat enough to cope with out there for throwing flips ect
Re: Wakeboarding locations around strathpine/ brisbaneGenerally yes in one particular place but you should be able to find a spot do ride. If your on face book, there is a group for somerset riders

Re: Wakeboarding locations around strathpine/ brisbaneI'd definitely stay away from somerset, Nothing but chop and the caustic fresh water will rot your block out faster than the salt

Re: Wakeboarding locations around strathpine/ brisbaneI second 14nce, drop it in at Jindo Boat ramp. Hardly any boats and always some smooth water around one corner. The salt really isn't that bad that far up the river, as long as you flush out after every session, all good. I'd rather drive 15 - 20 mins to the river and get some sort of good water than drive an hour and a half to the dams and risk the wind blowing 30 knots or chopped out from all the boats.
Re: Wakeboarding locations around strathpine/ brisbaneWhat do you mean caustic fresh water?
Re: Wakeboarding locations around strathpine/ brisbaneIt's just a joke Mate

Re: Wakeboarding locations around strathpine/ brisbaneIf you are driving up from down south with the boat, give yourself a few days to call into big river ski lodge at grafton, seelands really.
They have lodges & cabins for rent so you can treat it like a motel stop over with the teaser of such a great river at your doorstep. Easy to get to either from the New England or pacific highways. From Brisbane it would be 4 hours south. It is on the Clarence river roughly 50 Klm up river from the ocean so it is tidal but you would not even call it brackish water, more fresh water & I don't believe any regulars flush the engine as the water is fresh water. A bit like the Hawkesbury, long wide river so you can usually find your own patch of paradise. Either avoid the 24-25th October weekend or embrace the next Fly-in which is on at the park. Accommodation will be scarce this weekend, unless camping. http://www.ozeflyin.net. No details on their site yet but it has been announced on their Facebook page 'foiling oz'
