Murray Blue Green Algi

Postby hoppuspears » Mon Feb 29, 2016 2:21 pm

Blue Green Algi warnings on the Murray. Anyone know if it has a chance of being gone by the easter weekend? Planning on heading to Yarrawonga but not looking good.

Historically how do they fix the issues?

More water flowing through the Murray and cold weather will eventually take care of the blue green algae. We were at Yarrawonga at Easter a few years back and they had blue green algae warnings, there were many of boats out.

It does. The problem is they arent letting out any water as it hasn't rained for a long time meaning the rivers are stagnant. Hoping for some rainfalls before easter but not looking good.

Strange as the past 2 times I've been up to Echuca over the past 4 weeks, the river is flowing quick, it's gotta flow somewhere??

The how weather over the next week or so will only make the algae bloom worse needs a significant rainfall event to flush it out as flows are currently not high enough to have any real impact.
Is there a way of working less and riding more without having to resort to selling amphetamines to school kids from the back of a Mr Whippy van.
