New to boating and wakeboaring and mainly going to the spit at Somerset.
I know the directional signs on either side of the spit but I'm not sure how far do the extend out and if they are only relating to the yellow buoys?
Basically, is there a right direction to go or do you just find a line away from others.
Can't seem to tell from watching other boats.
Any other newbie tips appreciated.
Basically with any body of water you want to be driving in an anti-clockwise direction when having a skier on. Try not to follow directly behind another boat as well.
Welcome! That's a great question and I wish we had more people ask it! Feetfirst is spot on. It's tough when people ignore the directions, but the more people doing it, the more will follow suit (except the odd drongo). Other great tips include no powerturns (power off method works better and you get less rollers/better water) and the early bird generally gets the glass
Enjoy the ride. Any time on the water is good time!
For everyone who doesn't know the Spit, they have installed signage that says to go in the normal anti-clockwise direction on one side, and clockwise on the other. I'm not sure how its working, but most are "shore skiers" at the Spit.
