09 VLX wake advice

Postby ronix87 » Sun Feb 25, 2018 2:48 pm

Hi I’ve recently bought an 09 VLX and can’t get a good Wake for wakeboarding. Around 19-20mph the Wake looks good but anything over it flattens out. Any tips or advice ? Currently have factory ballast full and 2x250’rear and 1x bow bag (aftermarket) plus wedge 3/4 down
Cheers

Buy a mastercraft :D :D

I've ridden behind this model quite a few times and know people that own them. This hull needs a lot of weight to make any decent wake. Need to upgrade those rear bags to 400kgs and get a triangle bow bag thats around 450kg and should be a lot better. If you have the stock 350hp motor you will struggle to get on plane if it doesn't have a low pitch wake prop.

Thanks for that. Struggling to get any decent Wake out of it. As soon as I get over 20mph it’s like riding behind a response with no weight. Yeh it has the standard 350 and struggles now with that weight and wedge down. Might have to try a different prop... or trade it in
Thanks

Try the acme 15x12 prop, https://www.wakemakers.com/acme-2419-propeller.html
I've used this wake prop on a few different boats not and makes a huge difference of plaining times.

When I was riding behind an 10 vlx I preferred not to ride with a wedge and put more weight it. Ive heard a few other good riders say the same. Maybe try that first

yep swtich prop

grab about 6-8 ozwake bags (25kg's each) and play with different positions - most likely under your existing bags.

to suggest that the boat needs trading is bollocks - all about loading it correctly and probably loading it lots
