US Built Malibu'sHi All, I was hoping someone could help me out here. Im looking at buying a 2005 Malibu Response 340 (5.6L) Monsoon Indmar engine with less than 300 hours on it. It is American built and was imported by the current owners. Is there a major difference in the Australian built ones compared to the US built? Its got good history, good hours and comes with all the gear youd want. Thanks All
Re: US Built Malibu'si would not have thought there would be any major differences.. if it looks like a sound boat and price your happy with definitely jump on it

Re: US Built Malibu'sI believe that some dealerships refuse to service them. however there are plenty of good ones out there that do!

Re: US Built Malibu'sFrom looking they are normally a few thousand cheaper because they are us boats and there may be an issue with parts.
In regard to the low hours, have you had the engine connected to the diagnostic to check? Sometimes the dash ones can be manipulated so best to plug direct into the engine and check. Cheers Robbo
Re: US Built Malibu'sPicked up a 2011 RLXI back in 2013 with under 200 hours.
I believe the beam is slightly narrower on the AU boats. Biggest issue is getting parts as no AU Malibu dealer will supply any parts without a HIn number to verify the parts are for an AU Malibu. Good source of parts is Bakes in the US & most other dealers of ski boats in AU will happily service a US Malibu. A good source of Malibu specific info is the alibi crew forum Check the trailer as most US boats are used in freshwater & they seldom get galvanised trailers. Had to rebuild my Boatmate trailer due to rust.
Re: US Built Malibu'sI have an aus built response but normally get parts from the states as even with shipping genuine parts are cheaper. Go figure...
Re: US Built Malibu'sI can help you with parts and repairs. I have an inboard repair business down in Townsville. I also have the diagnostic program to do all marine engines.
